Head Chef

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Head Chef to support a high-volume gastropub in the Chigwell area on a temporary basis while the venue recruits for a permanent appointment.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, leading a team to deliver a consistently high standard of food service. This is an excellent opportunity for a capable and motivated Head Chef (or strong Sous Chef) who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service.

  • Maintain food quality, presentation, and consistency.

  • Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships.

  • Ensure full compliance with food hygiene and safety standards.

  • Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff.

 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef within a similar fresh-food operation.

  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.

  • Immediate availability for temporary cover.

  • Ability to commute to the Chigwell area (no live-in accommodation available).

 

Assignment Details:

  • Location: Chigwell area

  • Rate: £20 per hour + daily travel

  • Contract: Temporary, full-time hours
