Job Title: Relief Head Chef

Hourly Rate: £22+ per hour

Job location: Ashford, Kent

Job type: Temporary

This is a relief job for an experienced Head Chef to launch the kitchen at a brand new wine bar and restaurant located on a busy high street in Ashford, Kent. This former pub is in the process of major refurbishment and the new owners are hoping to open officially in late March. They are looking for a Chef, ideally with some experience in opening new ventures, to join them in February and to help with the initial set up of the kitchen. Starting simple and building upon good foundations, the husband and wife duo have the vision of serving high end sharing platters to compliment their extensive wine list.

Once completed, the building will have a 40 cover restaurant in addition to its cosy lounge area which could seat an additional 20 diners. The site will also have 6 en-suite bedrooms and will offer breakfast in addition to lunch and dinner.

The position will be exceptionally hands on, with the requirement to organise the kitchen in the first instance and bring on board new suppliers. You will also need to create and implement your own menus, considering costings and GP%, giving you the opportunity to use your imagination and creative flair. In the first instance, the role will be single-handed with a view to bring on additional team members once the site opens and business levels can be assessed. At this point, you will be heavily involved in training. You will be working a minimum of 40hours over 5 days and accommodation can be provided locally for the right Chef.

The role will be for a month initially however the owners are in no rush to recruit permanently so if both parties are happy, the role will be on-going.

If this position appeals to you, please apply below or forward on your CV to info@cjuk.co.uk. If you require any further information or have any questions, please call the team on 01254 355666.
